2017 BMW 5 Series Earns IIHS Safety Award

October 20th, 2017 by

Recently, it was reported by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) that the 2017 BMW 5 Series was named a "Top Safety Pick +." This award recognizes BMW for its long-standing commitment to delivering best-in-class safety to consumers.

The 2017 BMW 5 Series merited the award due to its performance in the five IIHS crash tests: small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints, as well as an optional front crash prevention system that was rated "Superior" and headlights that received a "Good" rating.

The 5 Series earned praise for the vehicle's structure and body design, which the IIHS noted helps improve the vehicle's performance in the small overlap front crash test. As a matter of fact, test results showed that the driver's space is at lower risk of significant injury in real-world crashes thanks to little intrusion at the footrest. The 5 Series also received a "Superior" rating in front crash prevention when it includes available Frontal Collision Warning with either City Collision Mitigation or with Extended Collision Mitigation.

Boasting such standard safety features as Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Stability Control, Brake Dry Assist, Cornering Brake Control, BMW Assist eCall and BMW TeleService, this seventh-generation BMW 5 Series is the most innovative offered yete.
