BMW Enjoys Stellar December Sales
BMW Group reported earlier this week that the company finished December with an excellent United States sales performance, as 34,253 BMW vehicles were sold throughout the country — resulting in a 4.3 percent sales gain December, 2016 sales numbers. For the entirety of 2017, BMW realized a total sales of 305,685 vehicles in the United States.
BMW revealed that the month's performance owed a great deal to the outstanding demand for the BMW 5 Series sedan, which saw 4,743 models sold during the month — marking a sales gain of 124 percent. There were two other noteworthy models that enjoyed notable December sales: the BMW X5, which improved 10 percent on 6,847 vehicles sold, and the BMW X1, which saw 4,454 models sold for a 6.4 percent increase.
Year-long demand for the BMW Certified Pre-Owned vehicle lineup led to 135,864 vehicles being sold in 2017, which earned a 5.2 percent sales gain compared to 2016 sales.
Bernhard Kuhnt, President and CEO, BMW of North America, was quoted in a press release as stating, "Momentum has been building throughout 2017 and the December results have put us in a strong position for the New Year. Our BMW models are attracting entirely new customers to our dealerships, especially the BMW 5 Series, X models, and our electrified vehicles. There’s much more to come in 2018 with the next new model – the BMW X2 – premiering at the Detroit Auto Show in less than two weeks."
