BMW i Vision Dynamics Showcases the Future of BMW Electronic Vehicles

September 27th, 2017 by

The new BMW i Vision Dynamics Concept shows that BMW is committed to following their plans to make pure electric power a stalwart of the company's vehicle lineup of the future. BMW states that the four door Gran Coupe delivers 373 miles of range, can reach a top speed of 120 mph and runs a 0-60 mph time of almost 4.0 seconds.

While BMW has provided those range and speed numbers, the company hasn't divulged much else in regards to the vehicle's electric motors or battery pack. As pointed out on Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com, however, we can learn a great deal from the Concept's styling, since that gives us a good idea of what's in store for the future design direction of the Gran Coupe series.

For example, the i Vision Dynamics Concept exterior boasts an elegant silhouette that's enhanced by the flowing roofline, short overhangs and long wheelbase. Naturally, the Concept greets us with the signature BMW twin kidney grille, but that classic look has been upgraded with sensors — turning the grille into an "intelligent surface" that helps the grille gather data that is crucial to the vehicle's semi-autonomous operation.

Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Board of Management and Chief Executive Officer, said in a press release, "At the BMW Group, the future of electric mobility has already arrived. We have more electrified vehicles on the road than any established competitor and are committed to expanding our activities…by 2025 we will be offering 25 models with an electrified drive system, of which 12 will be pure electric."
