Performance

The BMW X7 comes with a trio of turbocharged engines for a drive that packs a punch. The base model xDrive40i has a 335-horsepower six-cylinder, whereas the 2020 xDrive50i features a 456-hp twin-turbo V-8. The highest-tier M50i has a specially tuned version of that V-8, which creates 523-hp. The 2020 X7 has a special off-road package available with an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential, new off-road driving modes, and a front skid plate designed to protect the bottom of the engine. In comparison, the X6 40i is powered by a 335-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, which is coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Each X6 vehicle has either rear- or all-wheel drive, but the highest M50i tier has the same transmission and standard all-wheel drive. The top tier also has twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8, which makes 553 lb-ft of torque and 523-horsepower.

Technology

Both X7 and X6 are compiled with high-tech features, a fully digital gauge cluster, and a big 12.3-inch touchscreen display that shows access to navigation, music, and apps. The robust touchscreen dominates the dashboard and provides access to the infotainment system. Both models have a new age audio system, Apple CarPlay™ capability, Wi-Fi hotspot, built-in navigation, and wireless charging. The BMW X7 and BMW X6 feature a suite full of driver-assist technologies, featuring lane-change assist, blindspot monitor, an enhanced rear view camera, lane-keeping assist, and many more similar safety features.
